FODMAP stands for Fermentable, Oligosaccharides (Fructans and Galacto-oligosaccharides), Disaccharides (lactose), Monosaccharides (Fructose) and Polyols (Sorbitol and Mannitol). These sugars can then contribute to gut-related symptoms and may include bloating, diarrhea or constipation, flatulence, abdominal distension and pain.
